PopOK Gaming obtains certification for Portugal’s regulated iGaming market

PopOK Gaming mascot holds a Portuguese flag under text reading Certified for Portugal

The approval enables PopOK Gaming to supply its games portfolio to licensed operators in Portugal, following similar certifications in Switzerland and Argentina earlier this year.

Content suppliers entering regulated European markets face a multi-stage technical certification process before their products can be distributed to licensed operators. PopOK Gaming announced that it has obtained certification for the Portuguese market, adding Portugal to a list of regulated jurisdictions in which the company is approved to operate.

Portugal certification expands PopOK Gaming’s European footprint

PopOK Gaming has obtained certification to supply its games portfolio to licensed operators in Portugal. The approval means PopOK Gaming’s content meets the technical and regulatory requirements set by Portugal’s Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ), the central authority responsible for overseeing online gambling in the country.

Portugal does not operate a standalone B2B licensing regime for gaming suppliers. Instead, suppliers must obtain certification from an independent testing laboratory recognised by the SRIJ, confirming that their technical platform complies with Portuguese law before any licensed operator can distribute their content to players.

PopOK Gaming did not disclose which specific products are covered by the certification, which test laboratory issued the approval, or the precise date on which certification was granted.

Part of a broader regulated-market push

The Portugal certification is the latest in a series of regulatory approvals PopOK Gaming has pursued in 2026.

The supplier also received certification for the Swiss iGaming market in June 2026 and secured approval for the Argentine market around the same period.

The company said the certification supports its strategy of expanding across regulated jurisdictions and supplying content that meets local technical and compliance requirements for licensed operators.

PopOK Gaming added that it intends to continue pursuing product development and certification initiatives as part of this strategy.

Portugal market context

Portugal’s online gambling framework, established under the Legal Regime for Online Gambling and Betting (RJO) introduced by Decree-Law No. 66/2015, is one of the more tightly governed in the European Union. The SRIJ runs active enforcement: in the first quarter of 2025 alone, the regulator issued 54 closure notices, ordered internet service providers to block 129 websites, and made five referrals to prosecutors.
