Slovakia’s Gambling Regulatory Authority (ÚRHH) wins prestigious international Global Regulatory Awards 2025

Slovakia’s Gambling Regulatory Authority has achieved a remarkable international success. At the prestigious Global Regulatory Awards (GRAs) 2025 ceremony, held in late November in London, the Authority turned its nomination into a victory, winning the award in the category “Regulatory Initiative of the Year” for its educational project aimed at prevention and responsible gambling among young people, titled “Gambling Without Myths and Illusions.”
The Global Regulatory Awards are a prestigious recognition honouring individuals and teams primarily within the field of gambling regulation who work tirelessly to establish and improve standards of responsible gambling across the global gambling industry.
“Receiving this award is international recognition that our efforts have a real social impact. Slovakia has demonstrated its ability to deliver innovative solutions that protect young people, support their critical thinking, and increase awareness of a responsible approach to gambling. This success is an honour for us, but also a commitment to continue initiatives that change the way society perceives gambling and its risks,” said Libuša Baranová, Director General of ÚRHH.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT “GAMBLING WITHOUT MYTHS AND ILLUSIONS”
The educational project Gambling Without Myths and Illusions was launched in November 2024 and is designed for high school students.
The project is structured to provide young people with comprehensive and unbiased information about how gambling works. It emphasizes open communication about the risks associated with gambling and exposes marketing practices that target young people as potential future players. Its goal is also to raise awareness of responsible gambling.
After completing the lecture, students gain sufficient knowledge to make responsible and informed decisions about whether and how they may engage in gambling activities in the future.
